But, you ask, "Why do you call it Famous Murphys?"

Several nationalities were involved in Nevada's early mining history. The Welsh, Chinese, and Scots, as well as the Irish, played a large part in the Silver State's colorful past.  Among them were several of the Murphy clan.
Pat Murphy, Famous for his voracious appetite, literally ate Virginia City's boarding house owners out of business.

Levina Murphys claim to fame is the tragic part she played as a seven course dinner for the ill-fated Donner Party.
Tom Murphys fame was a result of his kindness, bestowed upon a starving Indian who repaid that benevolence with the Hidden Treasure Mine.

"Metaliferous" Murphy was renowned for his rise from a poor assayer to a rich mine owner, due to an encounter with a tar and feather party.

Our desire is to make this Murphys the most "Famous Murphys" of all.

May the roads rise with you
And may the winds always be at your back
And may the Lord hold you in the
hollow of His hand.
